The Qualified Mental Health First -Aider
A mental health first aider provides an individual with support and is the first point of call, inside work hours. A mental health first aider is someone who can start conversations about mental health and substance use problems, identify and address a potential mental ill- ness or substance use disorder, and help someone in crisis or non- crisis situation (MHFA.org). They can provide guidance and signpost individuals for more help and support if required, in particular as it is not the first-aider role to counsel, diagnose, or give ongoing support.
